Steps to Institutionalise Training to WUAs

I&CAD, GOAP has initiated steps to institutionalise training of WUAs in canal irrigation through inducting professionals from various disciplines to work at irrigation circle level. The institutionalisation process evolved out of consistent experiment over the last five years. It started experimenting the model of utilising the services of NGOs/Support Organisations to train WUAs at project level. After three years, a core team consisting of professionals from various disciplines was established at State level to develop training formats. In order to make training WUAs regular at field level, I&CAD recruited professionals from various disciplines and experienced in working with grass roots to conduct trainings. These professionals are attached to each circle and will be functioning under the directives of respective Chief Engineer at circle level. This also serves the purpose of providing insights from multi disciplinary professionals to the existing irrigation officials, who otherwise carries mainly engineering perspective.
